This mug is a translucent, wheel-thrown porcelain mug created by artist Antoinette Badenhorst. It is part of her functional dinnerware line, known for being both lightweight and durable. The mug is made from high-fired porcelain, which, when fired to vitrification, becomes a strong, glasslike material known for its translucency.

Antoinette refers to porcelain as the “Diva of clay,” crafts each piece with a hand-painted floral or leaf pattern.

The rose-like flowers are abstract and appear a striking, bright orange. There are light green, or "pale yellow-green," washes that form leaf-like patterns around the orange elements. Lavender purple daisies form part of the finished design. Despite the bright pops of orange, the mug has a pastel water-color finish.

This artisan porcelain mug is inspired by the artist’s observations of nature and life’s energy. The mug is a unique masterpiece blending wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques. The handle, with its curved, organic shape, ensures a comfortable grip. Beyond its artistic attraction, this mug is designed for everyday use, microwave-safe and dishwasher-friendly.

Antoinette Badenhorst is an internationally acclaimed ceramic artist renowned for her work with translucent porcelain and is the founder of the online art school TeachinArt.
