Porcelain dinnerware

We are doing maintenance on the website, so please come back to see the new additions.

What is the difference between porcelain and other clay?
Porcelain becomes glass-like which is the key to the facts below. If properly fired, the clay and glaze fuse together to become one clay-glaze layer, which makes it stronger than most other clay types. A simple way to know if porcelain is well fired, is to tap on the side. If it makes a lyrical ringing sound, chances are good that it is vitrified.
Why is porcelain dinnerware preferred in the kitchen?
Porcelain is more durable than the average pottery.

Can I use dinnerware in a dishwasher and microwave oven?
Porcelain is microwave friendly. Heat will transfer throughout the food, without heating the porcelain handles. Unless overcooked, food that contain enough moisture, will not stick to the bottom.
Porcelain is durable in the dishwasher. It is resistant against abrasive and acidic materials.

How to store porcelain in the kitchen?
Porcelain can handle normal wear and tear in the kitchen, but will just like any other pottery or glass, it will break when knocked or bumped hard. A direct hit on a rim will cause a chip, similar to any other kitchenware.

Can I use porcelain in the oven, on the stove or in the refrigerator?
Porcelain should not be heated up on the stove top.
It can be used in the oven but should be treated like glass ware. Do not expose it to sudden temperature changes.
Do not put ice cold foods directly on a hot porcelain plate or bowl.
