Empty bowls
If you want to become involved in a community project to help feed the hungry, this is your chance.
Throughout the year many potters across the USA create and donate pottery bowls and donate it to various charitable societies to benefit the hungry.
In Northeast Mississippi potters and volunteer ladies (Mud ladies) create roughly 2000 bowls each year. The Salvation Army Woman's Auxiliary organizes an Empty Bowl day during which the public buy tickets for a soup and bread lunch provided by restaurants. At the end of the day, each ticket holder receive a pottery bowl which is wrapped in a brown paper bag.

Use these monthly community events in the studio of Antoinette for fellowship with family and friends or for an away from church or work opportunity to re connect with those persons that you want to know better.

Laurie Spencer and her family came to the studio in Saltillo to make bowls for the Salvation Army's empty bowls event. Antoinette teaches them the skills and give them ideas of how they can build the bowls and allow them the freedom to make their own version.
